Description
Jasper is a type of chert quartz (an opaque cryptocrystalline variety of quartz) that can be red, green, brown or yellow and many shades in-between. Many stones discovered in India are named “Jasper” as that is a word Indian miners are familiar with. And while called that, not all are really a jasper, like in the case of Bumblebee, but we use the trade name from where they are mined. This is covered in the Gemstone Description area of the site.
